Colón is an excellent embarkation or disembarkation port for a Caribbean cruise. Especially if visiting the Panama Canal is on your radar. Also, it’s easily combinable with other parts of Panama.
Before our cruise we spent a few days at a resort on the Pacific side and explored some of the rainforest. Following our cruise, we went to Panama City and also visited the famous Panama Canal.
Our itinerary didn’t give us much time to visit this bayside town, but the cruise port was well organized with a duty-free shopping area.
Other ideas would be to go to Lake Gatún located near Colón and see the locks or take an excursion to the Gamboa Forest to see the abundant wildlife in the region.
