Aruba is a small Dutch island located in the southern Caribbean Sea and is one of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao).
The southern coast is lined with beautiful white sand beaches, but these can get crowded times. Aruba’s warm clear waters are inviting and ideal for water sports. Because of the constant trade winds, Aruba’s is a very popular spot for windsurfing and kite surfing. The island’s reefs also attract scuba divers and snorkelers.
Because of its small size it’s possible to visit multiple landmarks in one day including the California Lighthouse and the Casabiri Rock Formation. This cluster of huge tonalite rocks rises out from the ground in an unusual way, as Aruba is mostly flat. Hiking to the top will reward you with splendid views of the island. Good walking trails and stairs make the hike easy.
The northern coastline is rugged with heavy crashing surf. Unfortunately, the island’s most famous landmark, the Natural Bridge carved by the power of the ocean in the limestone, collapsed in 2005.
Throughout the island giant cactuses reach up to the sky and divi-divi trees keep on pointing to the south.
Casinos and duty-free shopping are readily available and within walking distance of the port.
