Villefranche-sur-Mer is a lovely seaside resort town on the French Riviera (Côte d’Azur). The town is nestled between Nice and the Principality of Monaco. Excursions to either place are the most popular.
There isn’t that much to do in Villefranche-sur-Mer aside from relaxing on the beach or climbing up to the Fort du Mont Alban. The latter is a 16th century hilltop citadel located inside a picturesque park with walking trails. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the bay and harbor.
During our time in port we had plenty of time to visit Monaco before exploring Villefranche-sur-Mer. There’s even a nice beach near the cruise port, but it can get very crowded especially on hot summer days.
This is a busy cruise port, but large cruise ships must tender.
