Tucked away behind the A1A across the Intracoastal Waterway in Hollywood is a little gem of a park that offers scenic waterfront trails. This park also has some great spots to launch kayaks and boats. Holland Park can be accessed from Johnson Street in Hollywood (801 Johnson St) and is open from dusk to dawn. We’ve been wondering where we could possibly launch a kayak or canoe, as there does not seem to be many access points in Aventura around our home.
The park is straight down Johnson Street and provides for easy access with ample parking. It makes for a nice outing to hang out in a picturesque environment only minutes away from the city. There are two boat ramps, lots of walking paths (accessible) and cycling paths. There are nature trails along the water that take you through the mangroves and it’s a nice place to spot diverse species of birds.
At the furthest point in the park you’ll find a wooden waterfront observation tower offering views of North Lake and the Intracoastal Waterway.
The park has many benches along the waterfront, and lots of picnic tables as well as a few BBQ pits. While the grounds seem a little aged and some of the benches and tables are starting to need some love, the setting is great and we enjoyed sitting on the waterfront benches watching the yachts go by.
Tip: Use some bug spray!
A nice view of the bridge on Hollywood boulevard can be had across North Lake. We may just be back for a BBQ in the near future.
