When we first visited spice island, Zanzibar, we were not scuba diving certified and we snorkeled the beautiful warm waters near our resort. We took an excursion made up of a mixed boat of divers and snorkelers and after their dive one Italian lady looked at us and asked, “why don’t you get certified?” What […]

We joined DXDivers for their first Pompano Beach pier cleanup. We’ve participated in other such cleanups in the past, but it was the first time at the Pompano fishing pier. Lots of community groups and local vendors set up booths along the road as 260 divers took to the water with support staff on the […]
We spent a wonderful week of diving in Curaçao and loved it. Even though we’re in Florida and dive regularly here, the 100+ foot visibility, the close to shore drop-off, and the healthy reefs full of life made diving in Curaçao a treat.
We were happy to get away for a week of diving in Curaçao, where we stayed at the Marriott Beach Resort. While not a dive resort as such, the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort does have an on-site dive shop and is well located to hit the popular dive sites.
After a couple of years, the Deerfield Beach Pier cleanup dive sponsored by DXDivers was back. We were happy to be here to participate and this year DRYFOB was even part of the draw prizes. Very cool. Once a year the pier is closed to fishing and divers have it to themselves. This is a […]
Living in Florida, we are lucky to have a lot of shore diving options available to us and we’ve been doing quite a lot of that. Some of our favorite spots are the Blue Heron Bridge and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. It had been a while that we’d been on a dive boat, and we finally had a […]
How often have we come out of the water with our heavy scuba gear on and walked up to the beach shower only to have to wait in a long line! We recently purchased a RinseKit Pro Pak which is an insulated 5-gallon container with a built-in pressurized pump and shower head. Essentially a portable […]
Located just off Hollywood Beach between Johnson and Michigan Streets (near the Margaritaville Hotel), you’ll find the Yellow Brick Road dive site. It’s a great shore dive for all levels of divers and with lots of macro photo ops. The site is a former outfall pipe structure used for sewage and wastewater. The 800 foot-long […]
The US Virgin Islands had been on our radar for a long time and with all the travel restrictions, organizing a dive vacation in St. Thomas seemed like the ideal plan. Since it’s a United States territory, no covid test was required to come back to the mainland. Perfect! While the resort bills itself as […]
The Cartanza, sometimes called the Cartanza Senora or Cartanser Senior, has an interesting story as do many wrecks. We just love learning about the history of these artificial reefs. In this case, there is also a wonderful conservation angle. Local divers organized an around the clock protest which was instrumental in preserving the wreck which […]
