In a nutshell, Aura is a luminous experience taking place inside the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal. Above all, the light show is sure to captivate and dazzle anyone attending. It’s an extravaganza of lights and orchestra music projected onto one of the most heavenly canvases, the Notre-Dame Basilica.
With a duration of 45 minutes, Aura has two parts: The first part consists of following a path into the heart of the basilica, stopping along the way to watch and listen to sonically and visually captivating tableaux. Then, everyone takes a place in the nave and waits in anticipation for the sensory experience to begin. We just loved how the low lighting gave the Notre-Dame an aura of peace and highlighted its exquisite features.
We highly recommend that you add Aura to your list of things to do in Montreal. It’s mesmerizing and phenomenal!
While taking photos or films during the multimedia presentation isn’t allowed, it’s possible to take pictures before it starts, while touring the basilica.

Logistic and Parking
It’s suggested to arrive 45 minutes before the show. People must queue outside, so if you go in the winter, dress accordingly. It’s cold out there and even more so while waiting in line outside.
You can park on the street (if you find a spot) or park inside the public parking next to the church for $17. We reserved our spot when we bought our tickets online. Very convenient!
Conclusion
For us being there and seeing Aura over the holidays made the experience even more special. Admiring the Notre-Dame in all her glory while waiting to see this spectacular light show only added to the whole experience. Outside, the holiday lights seem to be an extension of the show…
