Located in Davie, Florida, Flamingo Gardens is a 60-acre tropical wildlife sanctuary. Much of the site is made up of lush tropical and botanical gardens. There are over 1,000 orchid species including many exotics. The grounds also have a beautiful hardwood hammock, a wetlands area, and many mature fruit trees. There are also fern gardens […]

Once simply a winter ski resort, Mont-Tremblant has transformed into a year-round tourist destination. Approximately 80 miles (130 km) north of Montreal in the Laurentians, Mont-Tremblant is just over an hour’s drive along the main highway A-15 from Montreal. We would encourage you to take the smaller route QC-327, which is the old highway. While it may […]
There is nothing like the beautiful colors of fall foliage. Especially the maple trees that turn all shades of red, orange, and purple. While we love living in Florida and being able to do outdoor activities year-round, the changing of the seasons is definitely something we miss.
We do our best to always travel with carry-on bags only. The exception being when we go on a scuba diving vacation and we have equipment to bring along. In that case even my dive camera has its own bag! However, we avoid checked luggage for any other type of trip including cruises or destinations […]
We often use Google Flights to check for availability and cost of airfares. And recently we were surprised to see that some of the options presented were actually connecting to a train using Lufthansa Rail&Fly. Upon further reading, it looks like some US airlines are also incorporating bus routes combined with air travel
When we first visited spice island, Zanzibar, we were not scuba diving certified and we snorkeled the beautiful warm waters near our resort. We took an excursion made up of a mixed boat of divers and snorkelers and after their dive one Italian lady looked at us and asked, “why don’t you get certified?” What […]
Some years back we were fortunate enough to have done a safari in Kenya and Tanzania where, despite being off season for the Great Migration, we had a wonderful driver-guide who took us on a daylong game drive to see the edges of the huge migrating herds of wildebeest and zebras. If you’ve ever driven […]
We joined DXDivers for their first Pompano Beach pier cleanup. We’ve participated in other such cleanups in the past, but it was the first time at the Pompano fishing pier. Lots of community groups and local vendors set up booths along the road as 260 divers took to the water with support staff on the […]
We spent a wonderful week of diving in Curaçao and loved it. Even though we’re in Florida and dive regularly here, the 100+ foot visibility, the close to shore drop-off, and the healthy reefs full of life made diving in Curaçao a treat.
We were happy to get away for a week of diving in Curaçao, where we stayed at the Marriott Beach Resort. While not a dive resort as such, the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort does have an on-site dive shop and is well located to hit the popular dive sites.
